How was the Manto Depression Risk Calculator developed?

The Manto Depression Risk Calculator was developed for adults 55 years or older and is suitable for use by individuals who want to know the risk for developing depression in the coming two years. The calculator was based on the Manto study, which used data on 39,439 individuals part of the SHARE European dataset and has satisfactory predictive ability (AUC: 0.81; 95% CI: 0.79 - 0.82; Sensitivity: 84.3%; Specificity: 58.4%).

Online risk prediction calculators are not diagnostic instruments. If your risk score is high, share your results with a healthcare provider and be aware that depression can be both prevented and successfully treated. The authors of Manto Calculator, the University of Ferrara, the University of Bologna, the Karolinska Institute, and the Weill Medical College of Cornell University disclaim any liability for loss, or risk incurred as a direct or indirect consequence of the use of the Manto Calculator.
